Nearly everyone's stories and reviews have been successfully restored with few problems. There are couple authors who we need help from, but we'll be contacting them privately once our finals are over.
Also, just to let you know this will be the final Newsletter e-mail sent out to all members. Jasson has completed the mailing list control in your author bios, which will allow you to turn on and off these newsletters right from your bio. By default, they're set to off. To opt in, simply check the box next to "Send me the Lunaescence.com Monthly Newsletter."
Finally, I'm not sure everyone is aware of this, but towards the end of November, some hackers discovered vulnerabilities in the eFiction script, which is what we use. As a result of trying to fix the holes they were using, we've been experiencing many more bugs than usual. I think we have most of them fixed now, but please let us know if you run into any more problems.
If you know anyone who uses eFiction please have them visit the eFiction Web site to update their copy.

Winter Challenge Series.
For this winter, we're having a series of winter and holiday themed challenges. Prizes will be bragging rights and a small trophy icon that will appear in your story's listing as well as in the "Trophy Case" we're developing.
To enter, just submit a story and include "Winter 2005 Challenge" in your summary and then just tell us what theme it's for at the top of your story or in your author notes. Please note that these can be turned in at any time this winter from November 11 2005 to January 31 2006. But to have your fics submitted in time for them to be featured during the holiday they're for, they must be submitted in the date range I list.

As some of you may have noticed, the original library homepage has been changed slightly since the upgrade. It's now a place where we feature YOU. ^_^ Along with featured and random stories, we also have a spot where specific authors are given the spotlight.
Right now we have it set on random, but if anyone's interested, we can switch it over to display just one author a month. We'd need nominations each month, though.
Also, right now featured stories are only showing stories that have been submitted for the challenge and Winter/Christmas themed stories. I used to have this feature back when I opened, but it was difficult to manage. So this time, we're going to open it up to nominations and requests. Basically, if you want your story featured for a certain month - just let me know. Just understand that I won't feature it again until a few months have passed to be fair.

Once again, we're experimenting with a few new features.
Story Type: This will display what type of story your writing is. Since we have a growing collection of song-fics, CYOAs, Reader Inserts, etc. I wanted to experiment with a new feature that would allow visitors to sort by what type of story they're looking for. Once everyone has had a chance to try it, I'll create a poll to see what the opinion is. (If you don't want to bother with this feature just ignore it.)
Avatar: Some of you may have noticed you now can set an avatar in your profile. Yes, this is another experiment and I'm using some of you as guinea pigs. ^_^; (I hope you don't mind!) This will allow you to have an avatar up to 100x100 pixels in size and up to 20kb.

Short URL

For this month, Jasson is offering the chance for authors to get a short URL. Once December is over, this offer will expire.
These short URLs will be a sub domain to Lunaescence (http://YOURNAME.lunaescence.com) and can be directed either towards a story of your choice OR to your author profile. Examples would be http://fallen.lunaescence.com which goes to Jasson's "Legacies of the Fallen" story or http://crimson.lunaescence.com which goes to her author profile.
**These aren't vanity URLs.** They actually have to be USED in order for you to keep them. (Yes, he can and does check.) They're limited to one per author and to only those who have stories posted. For those of you who already have a short URL, now is your chance to ask for a rename if you want.
Keep in mind that it takes 24 - 72 hours for it to propagate across the internet so you can use it. If you're interested, drop Jasson an e-mail. Be sure to tell him what name you need and what exactly you want it hooked up to.
